Car on home page / Airbox

Does anyone know about the car on the homepage - specifically the air filter covers that are used - are they just for show or is the car driven with them. The reason I ask is a need to make rain guards for my carbs (44 idf) or some sort of airbox system (lost cost) and the engine bay is a tight fit modified 74 super roadster look
