Fuchs on a 1970

This must be a common question, but having searched through the posts I couldn't find the answers I need:

I'm wanting to use 6" & 7" x 15" or 16" genuine Fuchs on a 1970, otherwise standard, balljoint Beetle. I also want them to fit under the standard wings.

Rather than getting the hubs re-drilled, I thought I'd use a disc kit that is already in the Porsche pattern. I was planning to use sway-aways at the front and lower the back by one spline.

I've read here that the 6" should fit ok, but that the 7" don't have much of an offset so will be quite wide. Is this true? Is the situation the same with both the 15 & 16" wheels? I also believe there were several offsets available with the various Fuchs. Should I be looking for anything in particular? Also, what width tyres can I run before getting into clearance problems?

Any help would be much appreciated - does anyone have a definitive answer?
