Garage heat.
After dinking around with portable heaters over the years i've decided to do something different for this winter. When it's below zero, i never have spent much time in the garage. The portable blowers are OK for quick emergency jobs, but i want to be able to work in a T-shirt when it's -20 outside.
Here's the plan. A house was getting torn down nearby. So i pulled the nearly new, small natural gas heater out of it. My garage is detached from my house, so digging up the freshly paved driveway, to run a gas pipe out there was not going to happen. Talked to my buddy that does HVAC, and he hooked me up with a Propane conversion kit for the furnace. Got in touch with a local gas supply guy, and he's coming out to check out my place to have a 4ftx30' round propane bottle outside the garage wall. Apparently in a residental area they are picky on where they drop one of these things. I hope to get together with this guy by Friday, and do the install next weekend. Will this get my uninsulated garage toasty? We'll see. Meet still on for Dec 11th?
