Vapor from breather box ?

Hi All,

I have an observation and a question:

I was driving my bug at illegal speeds on the weekend and had to fill up with gas. After my fill up, I went to check the oil level and noticed a vapor coming out of my breather box ... kind of like smoke, not alot of it, but a small amount, like from a cup of hot coffee.

I have a bugpack breather with 3 vent hoses... 1 to each valve cover and 1 to the block (Type 4 GA engine)

I checked the oil temp (VDO gauge taken from sump) and it was reading 190 deg so the oil was not getting too hot. Pressure after startup was 40 psi.

Could this be water being boiled out of the oil that is causing the vapor ? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
