Burbank Trip Advise

here is one WAY off topic. i need to send my kid and wife out to Burbank for a week to talk with some acting agents (my daughter has been working her way into the business and her manager wants her out there for pilot season later this year, this is a warm up trip for the local agents).

any advise on the cheapest way to pull this off outside of the obvious like Obitz and such? best estimate for 7 days/6 nights is coming up to $1200 for just hotel and car rental. add gas, food, etc. Augh! not sure what i am looking at when they have to live out there for 3 months.

any advise is appreciated. hoping there are some locals or traveling junkies on here with tips.
