Newb with a question
I am interested in these wheels an was wondering if there possible to run on a 72 standard bug with stock fenders front an rear w/o sticking out. Im aware Id need to convert to 4-100 bolt pattern and was looking for the offset, and i guess im reading it right it has a 38mm offset with the 16x7's, and 15x6 for front which has a 38mm backspace also, if im reading it right.Id also be running front disc brakes with a 2inch narrowed front beam to improve turning abilities up front. The disc brake kit i might get when money comes in my hands are from Cip1 and rear drums drilled out to 4-100's if that helps?
This is the drum brakes http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails....23%2D501%2D301 And disc brake kit http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails....C%2DC10%2D4121 Thanks, Albert |

If the offset of your front and back wheels -- the link I saw made no mention -- are 38mm, I think you should be okay. The rear wheels may be close.
Please be aware offset and backspacing are two different things. Here's a link for that: http://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html The new drums shouldn't add any width but I would double-check to be sure. Then with your current rear wheel off, you should be able to measure and calculate whether you have met that tolerance. Make sure you get the data right from the manufacturers. |

If you order the disc brake kit
THROW OUT the bearings that come with them. If you need new bearings buy a name brand (SKF,FAG,Timken, NTN) from a local bearing supply house. The ones that came with ours didn't even have a name or number on them, cheap offshore crap. |

i thought it said they were 38mm backspace, bummer.
i guess i got to find out what my offset is. my current wheels stick out pass my fenders and there only 15x4.5inch rims which is kinda sad really. Well I sent discounttire a email asking for there wheel offset, should get a response back soon. Last edited by Veedub; January 3rd 2007 at 15:48. |
