Tire Valve Stem Support

I saw these on a 911 one time (with 16inch Fuchs) and I was wondering if they are of any value and/or fit on the newer Porsche wheels. The Fuchs seem to have the stem just sort of poking out into the air, but the newer wheels seem to have it a little bit better supported in a little pocket. Thoughts? Opinions?

From what I've been told they only did that on the 911s because at high speeds the valve stem would bend over and touch the rim and let air out of the tire In later models and other rim designs they fixed that problem. It's a neat vintage part if you have them but now there are shorter or better valve stems available that don't suffer the high speed problems. I used to have this problem on my old race rims which were 16" fuchs.
