Hey Trevor, which kit is the one you used for the rear arms front pivots?

Thanx
Chris

Chris, if you mean the bushes for the rear trailing arms, then it's the normal aftermarket urethane bushes kit for an IRS bug. The bushes fit the Porsche arms and allow the use of the large diameter bolt from the bug. I suppose you could fit stock replacement VW rubber bushes, but there's no harm in upgrading to the urethane bushes...

Couple of questions after reading the thread.

There is a lot of talk of widths of Subaru engines, but does anyone have an idea of lengths?

Has anyone considered newer porsche trannys like G64 (993 turbo)? Can the newer water-cooled 996 boxes fit, e.g. G96?

Can the differences you describe by the type of G50 gearbox be summarised by the second set of digits in the box type i.e. G50, G50-01, G50-02, G50-03 G50-50 etc. as I have elsewhere seen references in this context.

And what about the std IRS t1 gearbox - for the cost of a G50 (say £1300/$2000) is it possible to beef up the IRS box to take the same sort of power? (without 5 gears of course)

Cheers

Hi

I just went and measured my 2 litre STI. Its 790 mm across the cam covers and 430 mm from the tit on the variable cam sprocket cover to the mounting face at the flywheel end, I guess a normal WRX would be around 390 mm for the same measurement.
