Custom Rear Seat

I was looking at some rear seats from BMWs, Audis and VW Rabbits. Has anyone transplanted these type of modern rear seats into there GL?

Any pictures or recomendations on doner vehicles?

There was an article in one of the VW magazines where a guy had put a BMW rear seat into his bug, but I think he had to cut down the sides and have it reupholstered. As I recall though it looked pretty clean, like something VW could have done (if I didn't know what VW beetle rear seats looked like).

there's also an article in the 2008 Kaefer Revue (if I remember correctly) about a germanlook oval on a 1303 chassis, that has Audi TT front and rear seats, and they look daaamn good.

Years ago, I saw Corrado rear seats in the back of a bug. I did not have a camera at the time, and I'm not sure what mods if any were required. It looked very nice and functional.

I've fitted Alfa Romeo GTV ('84 116) front and rear seats in our '03. It was a tight squeeze across the shoulder pads and I had to create a bulbous front edge to the seat pan in ally but it all works and looks and is oh so comfortable.

Sorry Chaps,

Life's overtaken me this weekend with domestic difficulties (ageing parent and sickly motor cars) and work pressures (I'm typing this from the office on a coffee break) so the piccys will have to wait until next w/e.

Clive.

Hey Thanks guys, I ended up just building a cover for the back seat base and enclosing my oil cooler and sub in box and mounting a fire extinguisher.

That looks slick. It's really clean and sort of reminds me of the Porsche rear seat delete on the GT3 and GT2.
