A few things

Hey all,

Well bad news, my motor has to come apart
Basically what happened was i started hearing a weird noise coming from the clutch area. After pulling the motor to investigate, turns out the pilot bearing is effed. But that's not all i found! I take the gland nut out, only to find my flywheel really loose on the dowels....

So i pull it off, and the dowels fall out of the crank! I look at the dowels and they have been peened all over their circumference. (It's a dirty trick to make the dowel a few thou bigger to make them a nice press fit in the hole) The rest of the crank is beauty, real nice piece. But because of some lazy goon, who reamed the crank a thou or to over, they had to make the dowels a little bigger to fit!

Now the dowel holes are all ovaled, and i'll need to put in a new crank!

Not a happy camper....

On a related note, does someone have a decent stock peashooter exhaust? (stocker is going back in!)

Alex

The car was running PERFECT too. Everything was sorted out (so I thought )

Cip1 crank http://www.cip1.ca/ProductDetails.as...ode=C13%2D8180
Bruck flywheel:http://www.cip1.ca/ProductDetails.as...C%2DC10%2D5099

Pat and I assembled it.

I'll give Greg a ring,

I'm assuming you 2 didn't centerpunch the dowels. The dowels were in the crank when recieved?

Ouch..... seeing those prices hurts. I paid a small fortune for my crank and flywheel. Well over 1K. Never mind the drive to Fisher Buggies in Florida, to pick it up!

What'cha doing for a replacement?

Pete

Pete,

I'm about 8 months away from being a licensed machinist We didn't peen the dowels. They came like that, installed from the factory.

Not too sure yet on what I'll replace it with. Something bigger probably. Maybe a flanged unit

That Hurts

Sorry to hear about your Crank Alex, I feel your pain you have worked so hard on your motor. Well this is a good time to plan to go bigger, if it's going to be more efficient and the same money. I wish I could help but ya know I am limited in that area.

Good Luck
