German Look Cabrio?
Hey , this is an open invitation for anyone to put forward there opinion on my idea of doing a GL Convertable bug - about '73 up . I want to put in an overpowered (is there such a thing?) type 4 motor with at least 17" rims all around . Can anyone think of some problems I might encounter ? Would the stock cabrio floor pan be strong enough , or would I maybe have to think about a custom made tube chassis ? Or am I just wasting my time on this idea? Please , any suggestions/thoughts/wisecracks are welcome . Axl.

With your cars , what are some of the problems you have encountered ? Now that I know that this is possible , my next step is planning out how I want to build it . Please keep the pics and comments coming . Great looking cars , by the way . Axl .

Mine is still in build so I can't say for sure. But, apart from the chassis strength which shouldn't be an issue, all/any problems will be the same as with a sedan.
If chassis strength becomes a problem I will make some new chassis strengtheners out of thicker gauge steel. In fact, I'm fairly sure I will do this. Oh, I've bought a G50 so will also be fabricating some sort of mini spaceframe for the rear end which ties in the framehorns with everything else. Kind of like a 5 lnk kafer brace but much stronger and welded in! Rich
