straight-through design mufflers

The straight trow muffler design has proven and its the most utilizated muffler in all modern tuned cars right now.I've used them on H2O engines and the sound is amaizing.I belive that on any h2o car they make a big difference and everyone uses them. :silly:

Now, for aircooled engines the turbo muffler seems to give the best sound, not too loud but deep mellow sound. The same sound, deep mellow performance sound, can be heard at any h2o engine with a straight trow muffler.
Even if you use only the final muffler on a h2o engine(eliminating the catalizator-thats in romanian and the seconadary muffler) the sound is still great.I really do not know what Porsche tunners are using on the h2o boxer engines but on Subaru Impreza WRX, which engine is boxer, the straight-through design mufflers are used by most tuners.

Has anyone ever tryed this straight-through design mufflers on aircooled vw/porsche engines? How do they sound?Back pressure? power?

I havent used a straight thru design on a VW yet, but I do have them on my Nissan 300ZX & I love them. I am going to be removing the secondary silencers & replacing the cats with high flow units. I want the sound to be even deeped

When I build my T4, I am considering using a straight thru with whatever header I decide on.

I've not seen yet any car/engine that sounds bad with the straight thru mufflers(remus, sebring, etc) Even on diesel engines they sound great and usually free some hp.Some one must have tryed to use them on aircooled vw/porsche engines...

I've been running a 2.5" magnaflow (flow thru) for the last 3-4 yrs and I have to say the sound is amazing and the seems to give awsome performance also.

straight thrus sound good as long as you dont put a resonator on them. then you just get the ricer "fart can" sound.

ive herd really nice systems on ACVWs using turbo mufflers

your right though straight throughs are quite popular. Even in the US
