Lightbulb the eurolook...

I'm mainly posting this because I have yet to see this look adapted to a bug. Sorry for putting some H2O on this site, (for those that are hardcore airheads, not to say I'm not...) but this TO ME is the definition of the Euro-look.

My questions are more about the tires and wheels. First off, what size wheels and tires do you guys think are shown in the pic?? Smaller than 15"s??? My car is a 71' Super, and I'm thinking of going with a real tiny tire, and WIDE wheels...ya'll think this would be possible on a super??? What about offsets??? I'm thinking some flared fenders would help, not just with help for the wheel/tire combo, but for looks as well.

I really like this look and have yet to see it done, not just to an AC bug, but to any state-side VW.

Thanks.

From what i've been told, and read (somewhere, cant think where) the current eurolook on mainland europe is for wheels that are as large as they are wide (12"x12")... Sounds nutty to me!

Those rims look like 13" Daytons. I see a lot of those on cars around here, but mostly on Cadillacs and Lincolns and some minitrucks, none were lowered to accomodate the smaller rim size, so they looked REALLY crappy. Most import owners around here either go with tuner wheels, or stock rims in front/tuners in back... I actually saw a 73+ convertible bug driving down Sunset Blvd about a month ago riding on 13" Daytons. I can't personally say it looked too good, though... But that's my opinion...

I'm not really talking about the style of those rims, but more the way they sit, and the stance of the car. 12X12 does seem a bit much tough. hmmm.....

those are actually three piece BBS 13x10" wheels (cha ching!). That silver bug has a ton of stuff done to it, all custom. I have the feature of it in one of my old magazines. I remember the owner had a total mullet too...

About daytons though, some guy in Modesto rolled up in a late model bug riding on little daytons with whitewalls. He got out and took a picture of his bug with mine and a couple of other guys' bugs. I would never rock those wheels but the guys heart was in the right place- he was so pumped to meet up with us.
