opinions anybody?

Which rim would be better top use w/o major modifications done to the rear. The frontend I know will need to be narrowed 2-4inches. I dont want to use porsche rims and thats all I noticed people use on here, I looked already.
This wheel has a +42mm offset
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...6&autoModClar=
this wheel has a +35mm offset
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...6&autoModClar=
this wheel has a +38mm
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...5&autoModClar=

the thing Im not understanding is do I want +40 or more or is it -40 I want to look for when its not a porsche wheel?

Someone else will answer as far as required offsets are concerned, my project is in another catagory so I don't know what works. I'll give you a big thumbs up on the Traklite 2.0, as they weigh nothing, it will greatly increase the way your car performs, and they are forged, so you'll never bend them. I think they also look the best too.

If you have more offset(+50mm), you can use a 10mm spacer(-10) to get back to +40, decreasing the track, but if you have +35, you have +35 as far as making the track any less, nothing you can do there except narrow the beam more. If you are close, it is nice to have a few mm extra offset so you can use spacers to space the wheel out to exactly where you want it depending on the tire manufacturer etc, that is if you like a snug fit. Remember that spacers require studs/nuts, or longer lug bolts, and they should always maintain the hubcentric nature.

ok so I dont want anything more than a +50mm offset but if I do, I need -10mm spacers but the same rims up front I would need to narrow it to be a +35 or is that what I want upfront? So would the narrowing be ok with a 2inch narrow or would i need to narrow it more? And yes Im trying to get a lightweight wheel, and the tracklites for some reason, thee price dont stay, it was 195$ each when I posted it, hmmm oh well, heres some others I was looking at
Has a +38 offset
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...del=Escort+ZX2
another +38 offset
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...2&autoModClar=
So I'd need a spacer to equal a +55 offset with these 2 sets right?
Also theres a rim called 5Zigen FNO1R-C, there available for FWD or RWD, they weigh 14lbs (ive held one, they feel lighter) and are available in 15-24" .Offsets for the RWD version is +33 and +42mm for the FWD version, there made from 1 piece lightweight aluminum casting, just only problem I got is would any of these wheels look right?
heres a pic of my car, and you guys can help me (please?)

its 2 toned, baby blue and almond white (similar to the VW stock offwhite)

The BBS wheels are one-piece forged as well, and weigh only 2/10ths of a pound more (10.2 v. 10.0). They cost $100 more each, however.

So, stick with the Traklite wheels. You don't want wheels that look similar to mine.

what wheels you got?
I was looking on ebay and I got shocked at the wheel prices, I sen some rims on there I like alot.
what you think?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/15-Ro...QQcmdZViewItem
there 12lbs and have a 40mm offset but look at the colors, I like the full polished steel grey in the Slipstream side, and steel grey in the others.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/15-IN...QQcmdZViewItem
another set thats 12lbs 40mm offset and many colors but i like this one.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/15-4x...QQcmdZViewItem
I like this set but there 15x7.5 (would that be a major issue?)they got a 38mm offset.
I may end up getting my rims off ebay. I like the first ones I posted in this post alot.
There light (but not 10lbs but thats fine) and the color would look good with my 2 tone car.

I like the Kosei rims.....
If you are going with 15's you'll probably want to make sure you do not get a too 'thin' tire.

Here's what I have, and in order to make it look right I'd have to lower the car too much. (I can't go lower in the rear because of the sube motor)

http://www.vanbran.com/movies/bug/107_0760.AVI

I had to use spacers all around to keep some of the steering....
BTW, they are 15" Enkei rims.

your bug looks good with those wheels, trouble i got is trying to find a rim that matches the 2 tone of my car, so a silver or high gloss black rim is what im thinking.
How wide are your rims? I was trying to stay with 15x6.5 or 7" wides if possible. Was there any modifications needed to be done or anything? I'm thinking bout getting the rota slipstreams maybe. What would be better, disc brakes or just keep the drum brakes? My motors stock for now and was thinking bout just staying with drums, they should be strong enough since im gonna run a lower profile tire up front than the rear, kinda like mix the cal and german look sort of.

The rims are Enkei RP02 15x6.5 rims with Kumho 712 Ecsta Supra 205/50ZR15 Tires.

It was a major PITA getting it all fitted, but that was mostly my own fault since I didn't research things enough.

Of course I had to change the bolt pattern, so I initially ordered blank disks for the front. The machine shop butchered them drilling the holes, so after further investigation I found rotors with the correct pattern.
Then I need studs that were long enough...... then I needed tuner lugnuts that would fit the holes (you can't fit a socket around them).
When I finally had them mounted, I had virtually no steering left since the rims hit the frame on the inside, so then I had to get spacers....

So, I'd say you are on the right track by investigating things before you buy .

You'll need to get new drums for the new boltpattern, so you might as well fork out the cash and get the disks for at least the front.

Also look at the Rota SubZero.... I always loved those rims.

I also really like the ones you posted with the black spokes... mostly because they give you a nice 'lip'.

Hope this helps.

Rob.

Rob is your bug a standard or super beetle? What size spacers did you need for the front, and how far does a 15x6.5inch rim stick out if it does I mean.
Oh what you think of these wheels?

Veedub.... just noticed yours is a super....sorry, mine is a standard.

In any case, the spacers are about 1/2" :

In the front the wheels are sticking out this much:

I'm not a big fan of wheels with the (real or fake) bolts around the rim. I like the wheels simple.
Rays Engineering's Volk TE37 is my favorite wheel (but expensive). They look a bit like the Rota Flight's that are in the link of your previous post.

So you know, Rob, mine is a standard beetle also. Does the rear stick out at all?The frontend I could buy a narrowed beam for it to tuck the front wheels in.Maybe a 3inch narrow?

Here is what they look like. By the way, I have a 6mm spacer on the front and an 8mm spacer on the rear.

I like that, its nice.So if I got a 15x6.5, the slipstreams(i like them the most) with the +40mm offset with a 6mm spacer up front and 8mm spacer for rear, they would sit that far from the fenders? Did you have to narrow the frontend (unless thats a super) if so how much? Im just gonna swap the drums for drums drilled out for 4-100 pattern, I dont need disc brakes since my motor is basically stock, an small diameter tires an drums stop pretty quick. Would 195/60's work on 15x6.5 or 7's sine I have pretty new tires thats Id like to just swap over?

Sorry my bad

Anyway, they don't stick out in the back. I guess it's the disk conversion that makes 'em stick out more in the front (and the space of course).

I don't really need the spacer in the back, but I wanted the wheels to have at least somewhat the same position front and rear.

Wow Im liking how the 15 and 16inch rims look on the bugs. Not really a fan of the bigger rims since they weigh more.I think Im gonna go with a 15x6.5inch rim also, since they seem to tuck in nicely, but I will use drums front an rear. I havent figured out how disc brakes on a bug is and upgrade, because there still manual brakes and I just dont think Id need the extra stopping power since my motor will be stock for a while.Eventually I may get a 1915cc for it but not anytime soon.
Just wondering are most the wheels with the 4-100 bolt pattern for fwd cars? I dont seem to see any for RWD cars.
