Center main collapse
mike the align bore
check the thrust surface of the #1 main bearing
check all lifter bores
check for "The syndrome"

I go into it a bit in Volume 8 or Bug Me video, the TIV rebuild.

Jake,
please elaborate on what "the Syndrome" is if you would. I think I have heard that term used before. I too will be building a Type IV soon and need to make sure the case I have is OK.

Thanks,
Yetibone

the syndrome he is referring to is when a former owner of the engine overtightens down the bolt that holds the oil plate on, on the bottom of the engine, thus causing the engine case to crack in that area.

i do not think so. If it is overtightened it breaks, period, which is obvious to see.

No biggie as it can be welded back up in short order.
