hello

Hey guys, I'm glad to find some southeast GL people. I'm located in Birmingham and I just purchased a 1964 Bug. I really like the GL, so I am always scanning the forums for info and tips.

I saw a pic in the wheels gallery of a light blue GL car with newer style 17" VW wheels. I think they are from a Jetta? Anyway, those are the wheels I think I want to go with. What do you guys think?

Saturday I am going to pick up some new pans, electronic ignition, and maybe a hideaway muffler, if I can afford it. I have a buddy who used to have a bunch of bugs and he has a header and weber carb he said I could have. I am getting excited about beginning this project!

Thanks for the forum guys, and I hope you don't mind if I post since I'm not an official member...?

Zack, glad to have you on board.

You dont have to be an official member to post on our forum. But, Im sure no one would mind if you joined either. We dont have any members from Alabama yet.

Dont be afraid to ask any questions, make any commments or to just talk some bs. This forum is here just for that.

BTW, we are having our first official club outing in September in Taccoa, GA. Be sure to check This link for all the info about the show.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Where exactly is Taccoa? I'd like to come check it out, if it's not to far.

Are those wheels I linked to, the "rave" wheel offered by VW?

Taccoa is about an hour from Atlanta, GA.

We have about 6 or so VKG guys going there for the show.
It should be pretty fun.

As far as those wheels are concernced, I know they are VW, but not sure what model.
