fronts will fit fine. I would recommend either a narrowed beam or wider
arches in the front. the rears may need spacers or 944 brakes to widen track to accommodate the 8 1/2" wheel. Plus you may need a little bit of a wider arch in the rear. not sure though

but there would be no problem in getting them under the arches with a bit of modification??
So... if I buy them, it's just a case of changing the bits around them to make them fit right>? |

55 mm offset is the magic number for the wheels (ie 17 X 7 55et) under stock fenders.
I needed a 23 mm spacer in the rear. But then again mines a super..so mines wierd anyway.:eye:

Depends on the width of the rears, fronts should be fine. I think the max you can squeeze under a pretty standard car are 8 1/2J at the back.
All this also is variable depending on what brakes you are running and how they are fitted (noticed you said you were changing them on your other thread). Rich

I'm so confused by all this, I haven't thought about what brakes i'm going to run at the rear... If I go for wider rear wings will I be able to get them under that?

Post the offsets and widths of the wheels and we can help, it should be stamped or cast into them (ET55 is offset of 55mm, 7J is 7" width) with this info we can progress. The problem at the back is that without any spacers on stock drums it hits the bump stops you can grind this down for some extra clearance but not the full amount. Early 944 brakes are a fairly easy/cheap swap and would space out the rear to the right amount while converting to the Porsche stud pattern...

996.362.124.00 GK-AISi7Mg0.4wa FR5750N ET55 The two rear wheels are 9x17, 996.362.128.00 GK-AISi7Mg0.4wa FR4400N ET55 does that give you it? I imagine that means fronts are 7" wide with a 55 offset and the rears are 9" wide with 55 offset? So I could uprgade to porsche trailing arms and brakes? at the rear to accomodate? Would I still need wide wings? Cheers FP |

Would would need some small spacers up front and I'm not sure you will be able to fit the 9" rears under stock wings, if you do they'd be very tight!
You really need to decide on what brakes you want to use as that will give a baseline for what spacers/wider wings would be needed..

I imagine 944 brake setup on the rears....
I'm told that allows more room than the standard Drums? Not too sure on the front though, what porsche brakes would be best? and would I be best off fitting porsche brakes or going for the re drilled beetle discs? |

Don't take this the wrong way, but use the search function, this sort of topic has been discussed numerous times in the past...

I have polished C4 alloys on mine,
7x17 ET55 on the front, 9x17 ET55 on the back... But I'm running late ali 944 arms with 944 Turbo brakes, No spacers - flits nicely under a 60mm oversized rear wing... Still a work in progres... |
