Which front hubs to use?
I see some are sleeving the VW spindle to allow use of the 944 front hubs. Are there any other hubs out there that would be a good starting point for a mod like this (either modifying the spindle, or modifying the hub, or a little of both), rather than making one from scratch? What about one of the Wilwood hubs (or similar) for a Mustang2 front end like all the street rodders use? There are a boatload of brake kits available for the Mustang2 front.
I want a Chevy pattern, vented rotors, Wilwood calipers. I know about the VDub Engineering stuff, which is very nice, and is still a good option if I need it, but I have friends who are machinists that I could trade work with and maybe save some $$ if I can piece together a good kit as a starting point. Thanks! |

Hi
What if you cutdown the drum area from a stock drum and then you were then left with a hub that you can drop your preffered rotor onto. Steve

I've wondered the same thing. Any reason something as simple as that wouldn't work? Turn a stock drum down so that is just a hub left that a Wilwood hat would fit over.

Should work fine by me! You can bet blank rotors and just drill and tap them to your liking. Then it's just a matter of selecting the right hat and building a caliper bracket to suit.

Rotors
This site has rotors for almost anything, but the best part about it is that it has the sizes for them all as well, so you can find something that will work with the combo that you have.http://www.dba.com.au/dba_catalogue_...e_menu_INT.htm
