944 search

First the wife gives me permission for a race car, then lets me go on the track. Now I have permission to find a 944. Am I lucky or what?

I'm looking for a mid to late 80's 944 NA, 5sp, sunroof, good condition, 3-4k range. This is the NADA range and Bruce Andersons from Excellence magazine for a good average car.

If anyone sees one around that looks good, let me know. I'd be willing to give a small finders fee or parts in return.

Thanks!

There was a 85 944 for $1,700 for sale a few months. I was going to buy it except that the radio was missing, the anti-theft was hard wired and there was no maintainence records at all, and the odometer didn't work. I have seen a few 944's for sale around here for sale and I will keep my eyes open. There is a 86 944 in good condition for sale $4,999 at a local used car dealership. It makes a slight rattle from the drive shaft tunell so I didn't buy it. Otherwise the car was in very good condition. Like I said I will keep my eyes open.If you want use my zip code 34608 to search for used 944s. If you find one that you really like I can take a first hand look at it and test drive it for you.

did the one at yeitbone's place not turn out? i will keep an eye out. i am headed up to jake's and GAD (PAP) tomorrow. so let me know if you needed me to pick something up from GAD. you will need to call them first thing and see if they can even have it ready by then. i will be up there around 3-4.

call me and let me know so i take the van if need be. otherwise i don't think i am fitting a 944 rear window in a 944.

Naah, the guy's Dad said they wanted to keep it .

Makes me wonder how bad they want to keep it, since it's been sitting behind my old Boss' shop for 3+ years now

Mabye "the automobile disposal folks" will be paying the ol' 944 a visit if it doesn't get claimed soon

Funny thing about people that abondon their vechicles at shops. They will not return your phone calls or they will always be in next week but they never come. BUT the minute that you try to get the title to sell their property to redeam the repair costs they come screaming and yelling. That happened just last week. I almost had a 2001 suzuki gsx-r 600 for $1200, but the guy came and picked it up only a few days before we would have had the title.

Thanks for keeping an eye out guys, one will pop up somewhere that fits the bill.

Joe, found out the clunking in the rear end of "the car" is probably a rubber centered clutch. Replacement is about $400 in parts alone. Have to look at what else needs to be fixed and add up the list. Yeah, maybe it needs a visit from the BK wannabe

I looked at a local 85 944 for sale today. Guy wanted 5k for an early 85. He neglected the timing belt till he busted it, had to replace the head. Brakes were in need of repair, hood was bent, paint flaking off the sunroof, cracked dash, hole in seats, etc. He had no records since he says he maintained it himself, so what else has he neglected?

I made him a fair offer, but he wouldn't come off the 5k, so he still has his car.

What a concept, buying a car that runs and isn't a project.

That is quite a find. I would drive that as a daily driver. I looked around me and I couldn't find anything good. Although I did find a 968 for sale. I'm too cheap though.

I know you sent me pics of those rims somewhere. If they are 7's and 8's, I could be talked into them.

Best part was this morning, my son (who is 8) looks out the window to the driveway and says "sweeeet...."

they are 16x7et11 and 16x8et23. they now have Kumho 712's 195/50 and 225/55 (or 50).

is that a beige interior? like mine? which i need seats without tears. and you are turning it into a track car?... hint, hint.

bad photoshopped pic of the rims on a car like mine is attached. still haven't decided if i want to put them on mine since i have them and my current tires are wearing. just can't decide if i like them for a street car.

I've got the car I need, just need the hardware to mount a rear swaybar, and some 16 7+8 rims. I'm also considering upgrading to turbo f+r swaybars.
