Lanner!

Hey man, I tried to send you an email, but it came back telling me your mailbox has exceeded allowed size! Delete some junk from there! Anyways, here's what I wrote ya:

Hello Lanner.
I purchaced a 944t brake setup for a 72 super awhile back. You may
remember me, maybe not. But what I was wondering is, do you know if the
15" Porsche Fuchs style or the Gas Burner style wheel fit over the 944
caliper? If they fit, I know it would be close, but I don't have one to
mock up at the moment. My kit used '86 hubs and I have 3/8" spacers I
am currently using for my 17" twist style wheels. Thank you for your
time.

I had the same problem. I called him, and he said he would clear his box tomorrow.

Sorry,

All clear now. I was on the road and I don't check email as often as I should in the 'off-season'.

The 944T will not work with the 15" Fuchs. If you are really keen, it'll take a huge spacer (almost 1") and you may still have problems with the 15" wheel rim and the balljoint.

Basically, with the early supers, you need atleast a 16" alloy wheel to clear the balljoint.

Hey thanks Lanner. I figured that was the case. I'll just have to get the 16" Fuchs then! No problem, haha. I'm installing a bunch of new susp. components soon including the 944T kit so I hope to get some pics to you soon. Thanks.

Easiest and cheapest is just good old Karmann ghia disks in the front, and stock drums in the back. If everything is in good shape, then it brakes quite well.

The problem with brake upgrades is that they snowball quickly. You need larger diameter wheels to clear the bigger brakes, then you need to narrow the beam to clear the wheels....

Check out the stock drums first, and if everything is good then just roll with it.

Chris,

I don't have anything right now, but I may be changing the front setup on my super this winter. Is your car a super or standard?

Chris,

I have regular Karmann ghia disk on the front of the super. They'll fit with disk brake spindles (my spindles will not work) on you car. I'll let you know when/if I do the brake upgrade.

You are sending people to VDubCustoms.com -- their old name.

Try sending them to VDubEngineering.com -- their current and correct name.

Yeah,

I let the old domain expire, and there is some weird stuff on there right now. I'm not sure who owns that domain now. The current link is:
