Re-applying the Porsche enscription.
Hi everyone,
I am planning to strip and rebuild my 944 turbo calipers. I will have them media blasted and powder coated, but I'd like to keep the Porsche enscription. Short of masking off the area does anyone have any ideas on how to re-apply the logo? I have already contemplated using stickers and even thought about having a rubber stamp made to apply some heat resistant paint or 2K. Any other ideas or knowledge on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Andy.

Hello Andy,
Easy solution : buy decals with the "Porsche" logo after you have powdercoat you calipers apply them and after that apply some light coats of clear coat. Rgds,

Do the calipers have the porsche logo on them already? and is it a rasied logo? if it is, when you get them powder coated, tell the person that is spraying the powder to wipe the powder off the logo.

Hi Jim,
I thought about that, but clearcoat usually tarnishes and turns a yellow colour under severe heat. That even seems to be true with 2k paint as I found out when I painted my engine tinware pearl white on my last bug. Under close inspection you can see that the Porsche enscription from the factory seems to be painted. Any ideas on how they create this at the factory? Cheers, Andy.

Hello Andy,
Factory using a quite complicated method to do that: Before they apply the final color of the caliper (ex yellow) they apply a white (or black) coat in the front of the caliper.after that they apply a sticker with the "Porsche",then the caliper(s) sprayed with the final color. After that the sticker was removed and here you are ! Rgds,

Cheers for the info Jim.
Sounds like a lot of bother. I think I'll have a Porsche stamp made up and try to stamp the white on top of the base colour in 2k to see if it works. Failing that your idea of using decals and a clearcoat sounds easier than the factory method. Thanks again, Andy.

Hi
When i bought my new Boxster rears they were only a crappy anodised black. I painted them and got a little old lady i know who paints clock faces the repaint the logo. I just used odinary enamel as brakes dont get as hot as you would think. I found a Porsche font on the net somewhere so I was able to give here pattern to go off. Steve C

Hi Adrian,
Thanks for the link, it was exactly what I was looking for. I'll have some masks made and see how it goes. Just need to decide which colour to paint them now Regards, Andy.

Thanks Sandeep,
I work on a mac, so I ended up redrawing it in illustrator. If anyone needs access to a clean Porsche logo don't hesitate to ask. Cheers, Andy.

thanks
I have just purchased some stickers from a porsche specialist in the UK, they have used these stickers for years now with no problems, so I thought I'd give them a try
