fuel cell questions

Does anyone know if it is possible to cut out the entire gastank area in a super, all the way down to the steering stuff, and mount a nice, flat, low fuel cell to increase safety, as well as much needed luggage space? I am tempted to build a custom under rear seat cell, but worry about the lack of weight over the front tires.

Thanks guys,
Shaolin

I plan to install the fuel cell in the spare wheel well area. If you don't need the spare wheel, I think it is a better location for the fuel cell. It is lower than the original gas tank location (reduce roll center) and is further in the front of the car (better weight distribution).

I guess cutting out the original gastank area may end up with less leg room inside the compartment.
