Well done this weekend mate! Are you used to the fuss yet?

It's cool to see your ride on GL.com, makes the world a much smaller place!

You'll fly through your MOT every year I'm sure

Keep up the good work fella!

Matt

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Matt, since VWNorthwest the bugs won 3 trophies at MAC(H)5 and a Top ten at VW Action.......... well pleased!!!

I've managed to get the BMW M3 discs for the back end so it 'should' stop a little better soon!!

Coffinator dude,

The color is a Honda color, glad you like it! the scoops on the deck-lid are hand formed I'm affraid. They look rather smart though! ....and more to the point they work!

Thanks

Al B

Hi,

sorry that I hav'n't replied sooner........been away for a while... duty calls and all that!

To answer your question on the hidden hinges, I bought the kit about 4 years ago from Machine7 here in England, alas, sadly the kit is no longer available.
However, Autoloc do a hinge kit that can be adapted to suit, I've also seen Ford Transit van and Reliant Robin hinges used to do the same thing in the past so don't give up hope!

As an aside..... I've sorted a few things out over the past couple of months or so that others may be interesed in...

BMW M3 rear brakes.....

One off twin tailpipe stainless' exhaust - complete with stainless' heat exchangers!

some big fat carb's to fill the engine bay and help the new motor move a wee bit better

and a rather nice handmade stainless' breather tank up behind the fan housing.

Anyway, your comments are always welcome guys.

Al B

Very good job on the car, those M3 brakes are the from the E46 model or E36?
I have a set of E39 M5 brakes lying around that I want to put on my bug in the near future.

I don't know where Al got his but if you give Machine 7 a call they might be able to help as they used to sell a kit to conceal the hindges.

I got my hinges from Auto Loc. using them on the stock hinge side might be easier then using them to suicide your doors! They are quite big...but nothing a little cutting cant handle

Hi guys sorry for taking a while to reply.........

The brakes are off a '99 E36 and were an absolute steal!!! All the brackets and machining is now done and they're all fitted up and just waiting to be bled............. they 'should' stop me pretty well!

Justdubbin you're spot on about the hidden hinges 'got them form Mike Leche at M7 ........ 5 years ago though, and I know that Mike isnt making them anymore........... too expensive to make apparently. Never mind.

Troy,

I've no idea what an Airspeed Lid is My decklid is a one off STEEL '55 with the 'eyebrows' grafted in, I think it looks quite good!

I'll PM ya with the answers to the other Q's

Al B
