How to install new clutch cable

I have a 73 super, and the first thing i need to do is install a clutch cable. i figured out that the pedal assembly needed to be pulled. when it was out, i looked through the hole and found that no cable was in the tube, i have the new one, is there a trick for installing it? also, the pedal assembly is "rigged" so thats getting replaced.

Any tips or ideas?

I've only helped change 1 clutch cable, but I'm sure it's the same.

*lube the cable before you put it in, make sure you get the cable in the tube, when you get to the end of the cable, hook it on pedal assembly, it'll be easier with a friend in the back, have your friend pull the cable as you slide the assembly back into place, be sure not to let the cable slip off the hook on the assembly, after you put at least 1 bolt in the assembly, then your friend can install the wing nut on your friend's end of the clutch cable, after both bolts are in, you only have to hook the spring on the break pedal and put the rod back in for the MC...

I might have missed something or another, but that's the main idea. I hope it helps. :agree: Good luck

When I get ready to do mine I was planning on using a small rubber band to hold the cable over the hook so it will be an easier one man job. Just a thought...
