Another alternative for 944 front calipers?
I was reading the 944 brake upgrade segment in this forum, and wanted to know if anyone had tried or at least measured this:
What if one can were to use the CB dropped spindle with CB's Rotor(non-vented) and a 944 single piston(read bigger than stock VW) caliper? Will the offset not work in conjuction with the stockish rotor? still have to drill and flatten the spindle to use the caliper, but if this is possible, then it will be waaaay cheaper than the CSP rotor set or similar.... ust curious since I already have all the parts, except the CB dropped spindle and rotor. Nice thinking but the difference in rotor thicknesses is pretty major. The 944 rotors are so much wider than the ghia ones that there would be way too much room between the disc surface and the brake pad. Plus the differences in rotor diameter...
What all parts do you have? Why don't you just do the regular conversion with cb spindles and porsche hubs/rotors? |

Phillipe, that's what I thought, but haven't actually measured the two rotors.
I have the front spindle assambly from an early 944(strut and all) and the cb dropped spindles. The rotors are vented. I was planning to do the conversion for my christmas weekend. I do not have access to a machine shop, so looking for alternatives. I do not know when or how to get the spacers made around here. So we will see For the rear everything should be pretty much bolt on as it is. E |
