MPG thread
I was searching the site and couldn't find any concrete information. I think we should start a Subaru sticky for what mpg you are getting out of your conversion. I figured we could make a layout similar to how you show off your car. I wanted to start this thread to save a lot of search time to find rough figures.
I figure if we set it up stating what engine you have and how it is modified, if its modified. List your transmission and R&P gear ratio along with how you drive it. I am looking to build a Subaru powered daily driver and am trying to figure out how to get the best of both worlds. So whoever wants to start lets get this thread going! |

Hi
I'm doing a Subi conversion as well. Most people I know down here are getting around 9 litre per 100ks with EJ20 turbos on a trip. Off subject, I just did a road trip with my daily 1303, stock 1600 twin port, headers and 009. I measured the fuel consumption with me driving doing the speed limit up to 110 kph, 9 litres per 100ks, my son who is a learner driver and is limited to 80 kph did 7.5 litres per 100ks. Steve

A quick translation for all of us not up on our metric system.
Steve C approx 26mpg Steve's son 31 mpg So it looks like staying at 80kph(50mph) gets you better mileage with a stock engine.

Hi
This was just posted on another forum by the owner of a EJ20T powered Type 3 fastback "Cant complain about fuel economy on my way back from Valla. Give or take a touch after refuel and setting of trip meter. 19litres used for 162 miles, so that equates to 39miles per gallon or 7.3l/100km. Not bad for a 242hp atw Fasty"

Hi
I just found a website that does the calculations for you, so the above Fastback figures are, 7.29 litres per 100 km 32.27 miles per US gallon 38.76 miles per Imperial gallon Steve

Sweet, I talked to a guy on stf and he has a 73 ghia running an ej22. He has a factory transmission which is 3.88 freeway flyer gearing and he said he only turns 2700rpm at 70mph with I believe 18" tires with low pros, so they are just an inch or two taller than stock wheels. So I would imagine he would at least average 32mpg, depending on his driving style.
