porsche powdercoating
ok, so ive just got hold of some 18 inch turbo twists which need a bit of cleaning up on the rims and i wanna get em powdercoated black. anyone know if i can get em powdercoated over porsche's original paint? could have em done by a pro but as it's a daily driver i'll prob end up curbing em anyways . cheers

The rims would probably come out looking crappy assuming the paint will hold up to the 450 degree powdercoat cure temperature. You can powdercoat over powdercoat but I don't think powdercoating over paint will work.

When i had mine powdercoated, they stripped the original powdercoat, so that they were coating clean aluminum.
I think they charged me something like $20 extra per wheel to have them chemically stripped. They said that if it wasn't clean metal, they wouldn't warranty it against chipping. |

cheers, so looks like i've got a bit more spending to do, don't want em looking crappy for the sake of a few quid! i'll have to go ask my local powdercoater if they can strip em too. thanks
