How to recreate one?

Is there any information on how to strengthen my Ghia's axlebeam in a fashion similar to the Things?

A firm called Ahnendorp tuning (www.ahnendorp.com)in germany sells parts for strenghting your axle beam. This firm has a very good reputation over here in Europe.
