Wheel Help , correct me if I'm wrong
Here is what I think I know.
944 Vented Brakes add about 1 inch to both the front and rear track width. 17"x7" wheels with a 40mm offset will fit a bug with stock brakes. That said a 17"x7" wheel with a 40mm offset will make the wheel stick out of the fender by 1". So 1" wider fenders would correct this? So how wrong am I? Thanks for the help...... |

I'm assuming you want a 17x7 et 40mm wheel on 944 brakes. this isn't mentioned above.
Your logic works .. but where can you get a 17x7 porsche wheel with a 40mm offset ? 944 Brakes require the use of a 5x130mm wheel. Sandeep |

ah you are right , you can't get Porsche wheels with these specs, but you can get modifed 944 hubs front & rear! This was the biggest problem from the start, the wheels I want are the NB BRM'S in 17". I'm going for a Cal-look meets GL look.

I 've been working with Uwe at www.mbt-engineering.de , the only thing I'll have to do is have the rear disc re-drilled for my lug pattern which I have a local machine shop that will do it for cheap.

Sounds cool ! I can see how you would mod the rears ... looks straight forward, and then drill the rotors to match.
What about the fronts ? Could you also use a ghia rotor and machine down the rotor part until you are left with a hub ? Redrill the hub to the correct bolt pattern and then mount the redrilled rotor ? The ghia 'Hub' would also have the correct bearings for the spindle ! Just a thought but please keep us updated ! mbt is going to modify their hub for the 5/100 bolt pattern , so it will just bolt right up, I'll have a complete 944 setup with all factory replacment parts (except hubs) and I get to run the wheels I want. I hope my calcualtions and deductions are right , I really want my car to look a cetain way.
