German Look Cabrio?

Hey , this is an open invitation for anyone to put forward there opinion on my idea of doing a GL Convertable bug - about '73 up . I want to put in an overpowered (is there such a thing?) type 4 motor with at least 17" rims all around . Can anyone think of some problems I might encounter ? Would the stock cabrio floor pan be strong enough , or would I maybe have to think about a custom made tube chassis ? Or am I just wasting my time on this idea? Please , any suggestions/thoughts/wisecracks are welcome . Axl.

With your cars , what are some of the problems you have encountered ? Now that I know that this is possible , my next step is planning out how I want to build it . Please keep the pics and comments coming . Great looking cars , by the way . Axl .

Mine is still in build so I can't say for sure. But, apart from the chassis strength which shouldn't be an issue, all/any problems will be the same as with a sedan.
If chassis strength becomes a problem I will make some new chassis strengtheners out of thicker gauge steel. In fact, I'm fairly sure I will do this.

Oh, I've bought a G50 so will also be fabricating some sort of mini spaceframe for the rear end which ties in the framehorns with everything else. Kind of like a 5 lnk kafer brace but much stronger and welded in!

Talking

well nothing really to say, I did not have any problems until now, maybe just a little harder to put in the 2732cc big bloc in the engine comparitment, a few modifications on the gear box supports, the oil cooling system going thru the tunnel to the front with solid 10mm pipes, posches brakes are very easy to install, maybe on my side the 911 dash and electrical in more a nightmare for me but, still not a big deal..

If you have any specific or precise questions, just drop them.. will try to reply..

ckeck out the section of "members rides" you will find for sure very good exemples ( dont check ricola ride, he is driving the wrong side of the road... bloddy english, can't drive on the left side of the road like all other , (just joking rich.....)
