4x130 using a 944 rotor and caliper... would this work?

Hello,

Im still trying to decide what to do about the brakes on my bug. I want to keep VW pattern 4x130 but would like better brakes.

Now, Iv considered changing wheels, but i really dont want to, so im limited to brakes that fit under a 15" wheel.

A solution i can come up with is using early 944 disks and calipers, but instead of machining the 944 hub to work on the VW spindle, I was thinking about machining a VW 4x130 drum down to work as a hub, and bolt the 944 disk to the rear of it (to keep track increase down) by drilling and tapping the VW "hub".

The only issues i can think of are:
1) The offset of the disk being too far inwards
2) Drilling the 944 disk and VW "hub" in 5 or so places where they would be bolted together may weaken them?

Anyone got any ideas if this would work?
Thanks,
Mabbo
