Great to see your project here in summerised form Paul!
This made me appreciate your work even more as it made more sense to me now. Its otherwise easy to get lost in endless details....
I also don't wanna know how many grinding disks you've used haha!

After 3 week doing nothing on the car, I finally started again.

The left crosmember is ready, so it is time to start on the right side.
This is where I started with.

And the result after hammering, grinding, bending, cutting and welding a few hours.

Almost there 8)

Paul.

Hi Rich, I love reading about your build. You do awsome work.
You saw that right about the inner mount, my first version (like manny sets out there) where bolted only on the outside of the steel plate. This new version has a 12.9 bolt with a precision hole in the steel plate and uniball, the urethane is extra and not really needed (I think/hope)

Cheers, Paul.

Hi Wally, yeah I followd you to this place.

I have the same feeling about loosing it in the details and have to look tru all my pictures from now and then to see what I have done.
I have used a few grinding disks and like volksdent sayed; welding wire, and I only just started. Still have a lot of plans and tricks up my sleeve

Agreed.

Finally the crosmember is done, When the body is on it's place i will modify the endpieces of the crosmember and probably do the bumb over again.

The heaterchannel was to long on the front and to short on the rear, I did not want to redrill my floor so I had to dismantle the channel.

The bottom of the channel will be mounted on the floor and then make the top fit.

Looks nice on the inside

Now that I opened the channel, I bare metaled the bottom and I will put some decent paint on it

After I painted the inside and bottom of the channel, I sprayed antirust on it and some inox spray on the welding areas. Now it was time to fit it in it's new position..
I placed the channel 1/2 an inch backwards on the bottomplate.

Back fits like a glove now.

The firewall can be mounted without a problem

Finally the channel is ready, but after welding and grinding it was torn a lot >

So I fixated the channel and fired up the torch, after it was heated I tried to torn it back.

And that worked.

Next step is the firewall, I decided to use and repair the leftovers Tikimadness donated.

Today I cleaned up the firewall that was cut out of a '54. The firewall or innerwings where replaced or repaired in the past, it was not spotwelded but had a lot of welds around the edges. But it came out pretty nice.

This firewall was cut out because of it's weight, but the heaterchannels had to stay. this is why I had to repair the corners, it was not rusted but cut around the heaterchannels.

After some grinding, bending, drilling and a lot of hammering, the left channel fits properly.
