To Much Tire?

I'm in the process of building a GL 1302. The engine is a 2110 EFI Turbo/ Intercooled. It hasn't been on the dyno but I'm estimating 275-300hp. I have a set of 3 piece Hartmann wheels. The rears are 18x9.5 ET 15. The tires are Nankang NS-II 265-35-18. My question is, is this to much tire for the car/engine combo? I have the Kersher Kafer Cup Style finders so fitment is not an issue. Below is a picture of the car with 17X8.5 Turbo Twist. These will go on the yellow car in the background.

Next question, which shocks would you use on the rear? I have 944 N/A Rear Arms (steel), brakes, spring plates, torsion bar and torsion bar cover plate. Also installed Mendeola 5 Bar "STIFFY" and a Vforce transaxle mid mount. The front Has 944 N/A brakes with all other parts being Topline including Maxx Struts. The car we will be a weekend driver & car shows, with maybe 2 or 3 track days a year.

Typically tire heat for racing and hydro planing in the wet for street are big concerns for a light car with fat rubber. I think you'll be okay with a 265 on the rear for street and the tires look like they should evacuate water fairly well, so wet driving shouldn't be too bad.

As for shocks, I would try to find a set of koni or kyb adjustable shocks/struts. Even if you aren't going coilover rear initially you could also run a pair of qa1 adjustable shocks in the rear. For the fronts, I can't remember if the maxx strut uses a 75-84 rabbit strut insert, but if it does you can get a koni adjustable insert (8641-1048SPORT).

On a side note, I found the front springs on the maxx struts to be too soft and I eventually went with a 200# spring on my old street bug.
