Fitting Recaro seats in 03
Hello
I have some classic LS seats from the 80`s. I tried to fix them to the orginal seat frames. But the height was to high, and i need to get them lower. I have to make new seat frames. Has somebody did this before. I would help me much to se some pictures to get som ideas what to do. best regards Fredrik |

I really understand what you means. Just yesterday we build a set for mine. They are not the best looking ones they were free. They need some polishing so look better. Have not pictures now but as soon I take a seat out will take some shots. If you want to get ones built for your car you can get them from Wedge Engineering!

I actually built some my self yesterday to. I made a frame from Recaro brackets from a BMW. Then i cut out the front slider from the original frame and make it fit rather good. The main problem now is the backlegs. I have to get them shorter and weld them in som way. I will get som pictures soon.

I don't know about the 03, but this is how i did the Recaro's on my 1302.
Hacked off the Recaro seat mounting points. Welded some flat bar across the slider portion of the stock seats, then hacked off the frame/sliders. Welded this square of slider portion to bottom of Recaro seat. Works well. Sliders move back/forth, seat moves up/down in height as stock, and its sits low on the pan. I hate seeing some seats installs that are soo high your mellon can touch the headliner. Seats are from a '98 VR6 "driver's edition" GTI:

Recaro sells seat rails that bolt to their seats and work with the factory rails. A little pricey but works with all their seats.
