suby tranny?

So I was thinking about my next project, my rusted out 72 1302, and I would really like to do a mid engine WRX, but for a tranny I was wondering if it was possible to convert the stock 5 or 6 speed suby tranny to 2 wheel drive using only the front axles for rear drive. or would it just be easier to use a porsche or some other trans?

any help or guidance would be great.

thanks
Eric

the wrx trans is ****ed with the stick directly attached to the trans.

A bit harder to relocate the trans than a cable shifter of even the bug end rod shifter.
