17 and 18 in rims
On a stock 1970 Bug what would I have to do to put 17 in rims on? Alos would I have to get wider fenders to use 18in, And for both sizes what is the exact size I would have to use? HELP PLEASE

For the most part, you could use 17's or 18's with the same width 7 - 7.5" wide with the correct offset 40et to 55et.
You may need to narrow your front beam depending on what brakes and spindles you use as these things may increase track width.

Caliper and offsets
Hi guy's,
I was wondering is their a 17'' rim and tyre set that allomws me to run a adjustable frontend without narrowing the front beam. Also if their's one what's the name of it and where can i buy it. |

I'm pretty sure you can run a 17x7 et 55mm Porsche wheel on the front of a standard bug with redrilled drums and adjustable beam with no rubbibg problems.
Do you have the June issue of VW trends ? Or was it May ? FLAT wrote a pretty cool article on what fits what with what mods. That should give you a good start. Sandeep |

Hi I have just bought a set of 18" by 7.5 rims with an offset of 45et, and am finding that I am getting rubbing on the strut tower and supension arms, I think you will find the same with a 17" however it wioll rub on the tire not the rim... I think the narrowed front beam is the way to go... If you can afford 18" rims with 18 215 35 tires do it they look the bomb
