Hi,
I`m using disc brake spindles of a 72 ball joint axle, took 2 CSP discs (SEBRO) with Porsche 5 stud pattern and machined them down to the inside diameter of the GT3 discs and use them as hubs. Then machined the back of the discs(hubs) to fit Porsche press in wheel studs. It is pretty much a bolt on kit, the discs (GT3) have plenty of clearance. After that was just measuring up for the caliper brackets and getting them made. On the rear is the same stuff as most of you are already using, 944 hubs and backing plates, modified handbrake adjusters (thanks for the tip Sandeep) and new BMW brake shoes. My goal was to fit this brake with 17 in wheels even though they fit 19`s to the Porsches. It is very tight and there are only 2 mm clearance between the caliper and the rim, had to take the balance weights away there. The wheels were another problem as I already had a set of Boxter style 996 wheels (twisties) which did not spin as the caliper was sticking out of the hole. Would have needed a 30 mm spacer to clear it. The ones on it clear it nicely with a 10 mm spacer and don`t look to bad, so they stay. Discs are 330 mm on the rear and 350 up front, gonna try 944 master cylinder and brake proportioning valve for the rear. There will be a lot of testing. The tyres are 205/40 in the front to keep the original look, so testing different components to ensure driveability is necessary. |
No worries, if you want to add the pics to the gallery go ahead Zen.
Cheers |
WARNING the following your about to read is a bad joke, disregard:
Is that a banana in your pocket, or are you caliper to see me? |
