Type 1 DTM shroud... what lower tin?
Hey Peeps! I got a question. I am currently running a type 1 DTM shroud and the lower tins i have on there are the flat square things with 2 tangs sticking up on each side that go between the 2 cylinders.
My question is.. I was reading on another forum and they said to use the whole cylinder shroud piece as seen here.. http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails....C%2DC10%2D5444 So.. should i ditch the little square dealies with the tangs and go with the whole shroud piece? I read that Jake R said that to make efficient cooling you need to make pressure.. so im wondering if i need both tins on there? Thanks a million. Scott |
I am running a T1 DTM on a 2275cc. I was one of the test monkeys. I do not run lower tin on mie. I do have the defuser tin(stock snap in)above the push rod tubes. I have had no trouble with cooling the heads/cylinders.

By a newsletter released by VW back then, those cool tins were designed only for the type 3 cooling systems and should not be use on type 1 cooling system(similar to DTM), states will run hotter.Personally I do not have a copy of that newsletter, but neither had any problem with the orignal type 1 ones. :D

Ohhhh awesome!!!! Saves me some work!!
my engines a tad smaller than yours NoH20 so i should have no prob :) Thanks for the replies! :D |
you can always call jake and ask. or post on his forum. he is good about responding...although he is slammed at the moment. one note on no_h2o's engine. it has big jugs, so that may automatically provide some back pressure without the tins as compared to stock or smaller jugs.

The Type I DTM was developed with the stock Type I tins. It was designed to work with the backpressure and resistance created by these tins only.
Avoid all other tins- Period. |
Cant argue with the master!
Thanks!!! |
