				944 anti-roll bar -pics?

Hi all, I've got an 18mm rear 944 sway bar I want to try it on my super beetle, just wondering if anyone has some pics of their installation.

Because the bar is offset from the torsion tube I was thinking of using a U-bolt to go around the torsion housing, and getting a block of aluminum machined to contour around the housing and then provide a surface for the AR bar to bolt to. Any experiences with this? Clive? I saw the 'Japanese Racer' article has some pics of this setup too. Thanks Mike

You can get the brackets similiar from the Porsche catalogue, only they dont have the clamps for the rear beam.

They the original brackets for the 944 anti rollbar, need modifying to suit a VW but it wouldn't be much of a challenge. |

I have the set that Steve has pictured. They are on the Kerscher website http://www.kerscher-tuning.de/kaefer...Stabilisatoren

Good quality and you can swap out for the Porsche bushes - I'm planning that with my 16mm rear bar |

That's a lot better design than what I was thinking, I'll just build a couple of those. Thanks guys!

			Hi

On the 944 sway bar the outside clamp is from a 1302 or 1303 Beetle front sway bar. Steve

Thanks Steve, although when I got the 944 bar I took the outside clamps, bushings, drop links and bolts so I should be good to go. Good reference for others though. Just need some time now ![]() Mike

Here i have gone 996 20mm, similar mountings to 944, but MUCH lighter as its tubular,(20mm dia') like all proto stuff, i keep altering the install, its now notched into the horns for ground clearance and kerb hopping, also with more adjustment possible.

			Hi

I don't know about others but I've had the clamps on the torsion bar housings walk around, so once I'm happy where everything is sitting I put tack of weld on the mounting plates & torsion bar housing. Steve

			Good to know, thanks Steve.

Would it be practical to use the side to side placement of these clamps to tune the bar at all? Basically you'd just be allow the lateral part of the bar to bend more instead of just twisting. This would be if you just had the standard drop links with no alternative adjustment. Or is this a common thing to do and I'm just out of the loop? Mike
