I saw a picture of a 1.8T fwd setup placed mid mounted in a beetle. Basicly someone took the front drivetrain and placed it in the rear of a beetle. The engine is where the firewall used to be. Its all VW

Hi Rob

Thanks for that, I think a Kafercup brace do a good job as well.

Im pretty sure Superman used a whaletail so he could fit the Golf motor in.

Yes, i've seen that 1.8t setup many times, but I am not THAT experienced with cars, especially beetles. That looks as if it will take a MAJOR undertaking, and way out of my abilities. I was looking for something that I could fit in the rear, and bolt up to the tranny (Using an adaptor if needed)

Steve, do you know if he needed that whale tail to fit the gti engine? if he can fit that, i wonder how difficult it would be to, say, put a g60 engine in there. Where can I find whale tails anyway? I know that i've seen them at creative car craft, and i heard through the grape vine that carbonjoe.net WAS making one, but now his site is down for an unknown time.

ill be starting my swap as soon as my engine and trans arrive, within a week or two, acura v6 with an 091 trans with probably an arm setup in the front so i have lots of time to figure out wiring, luckily i live in wires all day long, with pretty much unlimited access to an acura dealer, what the hell right, ive done more stupid things about 245hp stock, all i want is 300 even this is for my baja, G-style very soon, just have to figure some things out

I have been running a 2.1l DJ WBX in my 55 Bug for the 5th year now, runs great!!

The radiator is from an Alfa Romero 33 that fits in place of the spare wheel, which is the only place I’ve done body mods! I use the old water pump (pre 1985) so the engine fits without cutting the in body, the rubber coolant hoses runs thru the heater channels, and a heater from a VW Polo…
