Figure most alcohol fueled street cars get about 3-5 miles per gallon because of lower fuel energy. So how much does the alcohol cost per gallon there? Probably not worth the effort including special alcohol resistant hoses, pumps, seals in carbs etc.
Thanks, Randy

Alcohol is funny stuff. Its something have zero experience with. It runs cool and makes big power, but is VERY volatile!

I've been thinking I ought to get a still going, grain is easy to come by around here, it would be easy to run a car on moonshine.

I think that the bugs in brazil run on alcohol, not sure though. I read something on it once. They use something like 13:1 compression ratio from the factory.

Alcool
thanks for the replies.
I have read alright that the brazil bugs came off the line with alcohol powered flat 4's. Does anyone know of any beetle clubs in brazil that I might get a lead off. I think it would be pretty cool to be the first booze powered car in Ireland. its a pity it can't run on guinness. Cormac |

I think I read the article in either hotVW's or VWTrends magazine. you could try a search for a back issue or some more information.
