oh, I didn't intend to inquire about brakes/suspension. I'm just asking what porsche wheels should I use to fill up my 3" wider fenders with wheel and tires barely poking out when I have the 944 brake/suspension (I'd love to use 968 stuff if I can make it work. or those beafy 14" roters (913?) if I can. woooh! sexy!

Hi,
I have 2" wide rear fenders on my bug with 18x10 et 47 wheels and a custom Porsche 944/930 rear brake setup. This setup effectively lowers the ET of my wheels to 17mm. Anyways, like you put it, my wheels "JUST" barely stick out from the fender and gives the fender a "stuffed" look, and the tire does not rub. In my search for fenders, I found an 18x11 would fit under a 3" wide fender on the rear ... call it an 11" wheel, 16", 17" etc. You could also use a 17x9 (affordable) with 255/40 tires and a spacer or you could use the late 944 arms (really widen the track) and then measure for a wheel that fits.... lots of options to fill that fender. I take it my selection for porsche wheels (I'd like to have that porsche logo on my car) is limited? Are there any aftermakret wheels that are LIGHT LIGHT LIGHT!!! that I can put porsche caps on or aftermakret caps or paint it on?
So I can throw the 944 arms on, measure from the place where it bolts to the lip of the fender and get a wheel that wide and throw a tire on it? The tire doesn't change width any (you know, some times have that little burble in the sides of them). Win do I have to worry about rubbing, or hitting a bump and bamn, the fender is now gone? I'd like to put the widest meats on the F and R, keep them on the ground, and fill those fenders! |

Maybe these will work for you if you don't want to use spacers.
Go to the used parts section and look at the wheels on page 6. http://www.betterbodiesmotorsport.com/homefr.html

I wonder what the widest tire I can run on this car is before I actually start huring performane (IE too much unsprung weight, suspension can't keep the tire on the road right, too large to generate grip?? whatever.)

They are replicas. Real ones would cost at least 2X that amount.
