993 wheels 74 1303

what's up guys,

my brother has a 1997 993 which he swapped his original 17" rims for the 18" turbo twists and i was wondering if it is possible to switch his wheels to my car. i know the fronts will fit after the application of Maxx struts but it's his rears which are wider that i'm wondering about. not sure on the width of the rears but i currently have no rear fenders and will be going wider with those.

any input would be appreciated.

will need to know width and offset to say for sure. they are most likely 9" with a 55mm (or maybe 52mm) offset. things can get tight under stocks, but pretty sure it can be done with some creative trimming. certainly can fit under wider ones (i run 8.5ET48 under 3" with 944 wide trailing arms). but with stock arms you would run into having to spacer them out then.

what are running for an engine? anything other than stock, i would not suggest running those rims. you will lose all sorts of power trying to spin the larger and heavier rims.

Depending on the width and offset you'll need the appropriate spacers and wider fenders.

do you guys know where to get the info on the wheels? i guess i could go to his house and check for numbers.

right now i'm running a 1600 with dual idf's and some other goodies, can beat Geo Metro's . i'm looking into an engine conversion at the moment or will end up building a bigger t1.

You'll have to measure the wheels to get the diameter and width; but, the ET (offset) should be stamped on them.
