Ah...the uneven door situation...What to do?
I'd noticed it before and apart from the obvious it never really bothered me, but My driver's side door has about a 3/8"to 1/2" gap between the end of the door (handle side/outside) to the door jam. while the other (passenger) seems perfectly flush. It closes fine, but now that the car is painted I'm suddenly a bit more picky. so apart from just replaing the hinge all together ther doesn't seem to be any way to adjust the setting of the door to accomodate closing the gap.
Any ideas or suggestions? The theory seems to be that the door was swung open too far at somepoint and "pinched" the hinges closer together and made the gap appear on the rearward side of the door. Ugh! always one more thing... I just want to finish this car before senility sets in! |

We had to shim ours under the hinge to push it back towards the rear of the car. All we needed was a little bit of space at the front edge of the door by the vent window so we didn't rub. We experimented with some thin plastic to get the fit right.

Shimmy Shimmy
I'd given that idea some consideration, but I wasn't sure it would work...Thanks.
Always nice when other people "guinea pig" it out first.
