No completion date yet...
We all have full jobs and a personal life as well We will get this project finished, but we won't rush it. The original plan was to go for a "one off a kind" engine. That would have been way easyer than to try an make it into something that can be built in small series... We will finish this project as fast as our spare time AND our budget allows

The 547 4 Cam Carrera engine had high CR (11+:1) and a true hemi chamber with twin plugs and incredible RPM potential. These engines make wortless power on the street as I have driven this one http://www.aircooledtechnology.com/p...era/index.html
When I had it here for repairs a couple of years ago.. These engines run about 75K to REBUILD STOCK.. They don't make any power below 5K RPM and they are very finnicky to tune... Here's Brent and posing with an Abarth tuned 547 from a 59 Carrera GT that raced at Leman in 1960

How about magnificent for an adjective?! What kind of type one would give a similar feel? In term of performance. 1911? 'Cauz it's basically a T1 right? T4 did not existed at the time...

356/912 engines made I think 90hp and were roughly a 1.6 liter also, but they had less bore and more stroke. The compression ratio was higher, 9:1, the heads flowed better, had dual carbs, more aggressive cam than a stock T1. Making 100hp in a T1 is doable but street worthiness and longevity will be quickly sacrificed to do so.
No replacement for displacement is the mantra. A reasonable CR, a good combo of getting the air in and out, shoould yield you a streetable 100hp that is reliable. |
