Well, the above ain't cheap. You have to love the features and charm a lot of such a big N/A All Motor to go to these lengths
![]() Otherwise, all other Hp-increasing possibilities are usually more hp per $. Personally, I just love it, but thats just me

That is my dream engine Wally. A very cool parts collection you have for it.
Your Beetle is PURE GL, if I may say so.. I look forward to following this build-up. :agree: Matt

Thanks Matt, I especially appreciate it coming from you
After all, I do need a potent engine to perform a sub-10 minute lap on the 'Ring' before you do it Quote:
I like to see the so-called GL 'movement' as German-Style, not german LOOK, since I didn't build the car to create a certain 'look', but to perform a certain task. Effectiveness of the mods is usually all I'am after, not necessarily how it looks...I really really don't want to be associated to the Cal -Look, Rat -Look, and all the other 'looks', where people indeed are focussed on how it looks Thanks, I won't disappoint you, I'am sure. All I am doing now is save up for a nice oil pump. I just sorta found out that the Autocraft 2-stage pump that I fancied more than likely is just made for a VW Type 1 case, so it should fit a typ 4 case just as well nicely. Thanks, Walter |

be carefull with a pump made for a type1 as you have to machine a hell of a lot of the back of the housing and shorten the drive shaft, and you might find that it still hits the cam bolts the pump i use is from stateside tuning in the uk,bolts stright in and works, designed from the start for a type4. cheers rob

Tell me more then about the Stateside DS pump Rob!
Do you have any specs? Gear lengths?, Does it have some sort of bearing for the pump shafts? Costs? The idea was/is that if a 30 mm Schadeck Type 1 pump that is being sold as is, also fits a typ 4 when you clearence the cam bolts (partly by recessing the bolt heads a bit into the cam gear), other typ 1 pumps should fit then just as well... Or am I thinking too simply? Tnx, Walter |

Coincidently, I may have found a source for a german made DS pump. Maybe it is the same german DS pump that Stateside mentions on their site. ![]() It has 26/38mm gears and has additional bearings (which a Schadeck hasn't) at the end of the gear shafts. Also it is made for a type 4 like Rob mentions. Apperently a lot of the old Cup-cars used this one as well. I like it a lot and the price is right also. It is sold by a privateer. For now, its all I know about it, but will keep you updated as info arrives. Hopefully next month the pump may be here Greets, Walter |
