Hey Mikey,

Pack up your snow tires and head on out. My buddy was working for the local welding union, so he has jumped around a bit, but he has NEVER been without work. Last few months he was doing a bridge rebuild right downtown and now he's out at a plant doing some work during a shutdown. He's looking to say relatively close to home.

He could head up to Fort McMurrey almost anytime he wants, as they are absolutly desperate for people up there. Living accommodations suck, from what I've heard, but with the OT and long hrs, all you really need is a place to sleep.

Bullyboy - Calgary is going like crazy as well, but housing is a bit more inflated. Besides, you would have to put up with all the Flames fans...

If you're young and not tied down with kids, wife, etc... I would seriously look at the opportunity, as we haven't seen this type of growth since the 1980's and it is expected to last for at least another 10 years.

(I sound like an advertisement for the City of Edmonton...sheesh )

Doug

I would love to. I just need to convince my gf. That and my mother can't exactly get along anymore with out help.

Great idea though.

Mikey,

I hear ya man. Same thing happened to me, only we were living about 400 km away and then my dad took a turn for the worse so we packed up and headed back. Now with the kid and looking after my mother, there is very little hope of moving, even if I wanted to. Luckily, the economy happened to hit nicely where I already live!

What I want to know is when the heck did I get to be such a responsible person?

Cheers,

Doug

Don't wait for an answer. Sorry, I couldn't resist saying that.

I know the feeling. I see guys taking care of their older parents, I became one before I realized what was happening. I guess it just has to be done, and I'm the only son that can do it. That's another reason I've been away from my project too for the last 2 months or so.

We totaly highjacked this thread.
