ok tell me if im understanding this right please.
I was playing with the wheel calculator. My currents are 4.5 with 0 offset the 15x7's are 38mm offset It says inner clearance is 70mm less (from inside wheel to strut housing or in my case, spindles?) Then outter position it it says retract 6mm (from possiton of outer side of wheel) So will the 15x7's be closer inside the fenders an be ok? Then the 15x8's which are 15mm offset Inner clearance is 59mm less from inside to the strut? Outter position will extend 29mm (from possiton of outer side of wheel) So whats that in inches, Im not real good in measurements found a site: 15x7's 38mm=1.49606in. 70mm=2.75590in. 6mm=0.236220in. 15x8 15mm=0.590551in. 59mm=2.32283in. 29mm=1.14173in. so if i did this right, im understanding there fine but will stick out a tiny bit which is ok Last edited by Veedub; August 23rd 2007 at 23:53. |

ok, I found out that the 15x7's will just fit inside the front fenders just barely, then the 15x8's would stick out the rear fenders bout 1.5" which could be covered with wider fenders.Now would the 15x7's fit in the rear fenders if I went 15x7 front an rear, and would that look better?

You should be fine with 15x7's all around. (thats the size I had on mine all around, can't remember offset though)

Sweet! I plan on getting these eventually once I figure out what all I need an who carries what.I plan on for the first few mods, to do the suspension, make it handle corners better, just for fun, no other reasons.Im thinking of getting the black or silver, in your opinion which do you think would look good?Im thinking the black version

Cool, when you do order some wheels, make sure you get the correct lugs. There are a few types of mounting holes that need the right lug. The company can tell you though.

I apologize in advance for the negativity but "volksrods" are useless... all that time $$ and effort could be put towards a really clean fast and usefull "volkswagen" weather you decide gl or jpn look or some interpritation of your own

Hi, just want to share, I have 2 sets of rims, one is 15x7 that has a +38 off-set, 2 piece Enkei rims, wrapped with 195/55R15 on all four, and the other set is a 16x7.5 +42 off-set 2 piece Enkei rims with 205/50R16 tires on all four, my bug is a 1302-S, so to make the story short, if you have a standard beetle, you are safe with 15x7 with an off-set o +38 - +42, a little spacer will clear some rubbing, let say 1/4 to 1/2 and you can also grind some part were there is a clearance issue, here are some pics. BTW love those rims.:agree:

Sweet, just the info I needed.So +38 in a 15x7" rims is safe, would the frontend require narrowing?I'll go with the adjustable beam before I go for the drop spindles since they change the offset.Would any 1/4 or 1/2" spacer work for it since it will be a vw bug drum with the 4-100 bolt pattern? I was worried I would have bad steering ratios or they would stick out really bad like some people have told me.Thanks man.By chance could I see a pic of your bug from the front, just see a bug from the frontend with that 7" wide footprint.

the best thing about aircooled VW is that we have no studs on our drums or rotors, b'coz of this you can test fit the rims, by using two jacks, one is to push up the car and dismount the stock rims then lower it to it's original height, and then the other jack is to support the suspension to it's original height so you can test the rims if it will rub on any part.
Norrowing is not required, just a 1/4 spacer, but test fit it first b4 you buy a spacer. Here's a pic.of the front, the rims are 16x7 with an off-set of +40, it is wrapped with 205/50R16 tires. Last edited by euro1302s; September 10th 2007 at 04:02. |

1/4" spacer, could I use drop spindles to use in place of the spacer if ones needed, or will that do anything.Also wouldnt mine being a standard be different in the front since yours is a super beetle an have different clearance issues?

the 1/4 spacer is for a standard beetle, yes there is a big difference on Super beetle application, and yes i think if you use a drop spindle, it will clear the parts where the rims or tires might rub.
