The EMPI copy is a Chinese copy of a Weber. That should tell you all you need to know.

The best carb you could ever use on a VW is a Dellorto DRLA.

Curious to know why the DRLA is THE best?

It's all a matter of personal opinion, I love my Weber 44IDFs but hae yet to try anything else (well other then my stock solex pict30...) I'm curious to see a set of these empi's first hand to compare. I'm under the imression alot of people talk trash about them because they are labled "empi". But i'd be very surprised if they were in fact made by them. Dells are a well known brand. Lots of carbs can be made to work well with the vw, just need to know how to set them up properly. Alot of time, it's poor setup on the installers part that gets carbs bad raps.

DRLA carb came out after the IDA. It was a more advanced design that
works better/smoother on a VW/ This is one of the reasons why CB started
importing them so many years ago.
