I have installed them on an early car. I do remember that the first set we tried were for a late bug and we had to get the right set.

These are definitely the correct set.

The problem, which I have been discussing with CSP, is that it seems that the later balljoint torsion arms have much wider tolerances on the forging, giving different diameter were the clamps attach.

The earlier style are more consistent in their view.

So, therefore I`m wondering if more than me have had the same problems, and if anyone have some measurement on the torsion arms. I`m a long way from my car so cant make them myself.

You could draw it down with a hose clamp or safety wire until the bolts/nuts will start, then smoke it down.
